Two early and influential pairs were pianist Leroy Carr with guitarist Scrapper Blackwell and slide guitarist Tampa Red with pianist Georgia Tom Dorsey. Later memorable partnerships included Tampa Red and Big Maceo, Henry Townsend and Walter Davis, Muddy Waters and Otis Spann, Lightnin' Hopkins and Thunder Smith and, more recently, Champion Jack Dupree and Danish guitarist Ken Lending. These days guitar/piano duos are hard to find but Dave Peabody and Colin Earl are keeping up the tradition. Both are member's of the King Earl Boogie Band (www.kebb.co.uk), a hard rockin' electric five piece band that was originally formed when Paul King and Colin Earl left Mungo Jerry (whose 1971 No.1 hit In The Summertime sold 23 million copies worldwide). When Paul King left the King Earl Boogie Band in 1996, Dave Peabody was recruited as a replacement. Gradually Dave and Colin began to perform as a duo as an adjunct to their work with the band. Dave has always loved the sound and interplay provide by the combination of a guitar with a piano and previously has had associations with British pianist Bob Hall, and Big Joe Duskin and Gary Erwin from the U.S.A. The two albums Down The Road Apiece and Roll & Slide Dave recorded with Bob Hall and Big Joe Duskin's Don't Mess With The Boogie Man (which Dave produced and played guitar) were full band albums. Gary Erwin played piano on two of Dave's band album's Hands Across The Sea and Down In Carolina and together they backed singer Big Boy Henry on Carolina Blues Jam and harmonica player 'Big Daddy' Pattman for his Live In London album. Regieseur Danny Boyle ist es gelungen eine beklemmende, gruselige Atmosphäre zu schaffen. 28 Days Later ist niemals langweilig und enthält unerwartete Wendungen die den Zuschauer geschickt vor dem Bildschirm ausharren lässt. 28 Days Later - Horror spielt im Kopf
Pro: Idee, Hauptdarsteller, keiner dieser inzwischen total verweichlichten Horror-Blödeleien

...Ja auch ich will meinen Senf zu 28 Days Later abgeben, da ich jetzt einige Meinungen zu diesem Machwerk gelesen habe, die mich wirklich aufregen. Mit dümmlichen Kommentaren wie "Die Zombies sahen viel zu normal aus!" oder "Da hätte mehr Blut hergemusst!" kann ich nämlich nicht viel anfangen.
1) Inhalt
Vier Ökoterroristen brechen in ein "Primate Research Center" ein um die dort festgehaltenen Affen zu befreien. Was sie nicht wissen - die Tiere sind mit "Wut" infiziert. Es ist ein Virus, welcher bei Menschen und Affen das komplette Nervensystem lahmlegt. Infizierte werden nur noch von einer ureigenen Wut getrieben. Sie vergessen den Schmerz, den Hunger, den Durst. Wut ist alles was sie noch kennen.
Als 28 Tage später der Fahrradkurier Jim (Cillian Murphy) in einem Londoner Krankenhaus aus dem Koma erwacht, muß er feststellen...

...Man weiß ja worauf man sich einlässt. Ein Horrorfilm, ja wahrscheinlich stellenweise recht eklig, aber das ist ok, es ist Kinotag, nur 3 ? der Film, warum also nicht? Und außerdem ist der Film ja von Danny Boyle, der macht nunmal gute Filme, dass sollte man schon nicht verpassen. Also rein ins Kino, rein in ?28 days later?...
Story
Ein dunkles Labor. Affen rütteln an Käfiggittern, wildes, agressives Gekreische. Da stürmt eine Gruppe Tierschützer den Raum, will die Affen frei lassen. Ein Forscher kommt zufällig hinzu, will sie daran hindern, doch zu spät, eine Türe eines Käfigs öffnet sich. Doch der Affe rennt nicht davon, nein, er fällt einen der Befreier an; unter lautenm Schreien beißt er sich in diesem fest, Blut fließt, alles wird schwarz....

Ca 120 minutes later...Todesursache: LANGEWEILE!
Pro: öhm..ja...sorry fällt mir nix ein
Kontra: laaaangweilig,keine Action, keine Spannung, kein gar nichts
...stromert durch das Krankenhaus und kann keine Menschenseele entdecken.Also macht er sich auf die Suche nach Menschen, die ihm erzählen können was hier los ist.
Auf den Straßen in London ist ebenfalls niemand zu sehen, die Stadt wirkt wie ausgestorben, aber er ruft weiterhin mutig "hallo???????" in die Welt. In einer Kirche trifft er das erste Mal auf Menschen. Nur leider sind die tot und zu einem Haufen aufgeschichtet und der Pfarrer, der auf ihn zugetaumelt kommt, hatte auch schon mal bessere Tage gesehen. Jim startet eine Flucht, da er von 2-3 "Zombies", die in der Kirche bei den Toten waren, verfolgt wird. Und da trifft er auch schon 2 andere Überlebende, die ihm mit Rat und Molotov- Cocktails zur Seite stehen.
Sie erklären ihm, dass die Stadt von dem Virus dahingerafft wurde und es zu tausenden Infizierte gab und Evakuationen eingeleitet...

23, 24, 25 Stunden und jetzt 28 Tage?
Pro: Zombie-Action, Look, Storywendungen
Kontra: Unglaubwürdig, blödes Ende
...So meine Lieben, langsam komm ich durcheinander! Was hatten wir nicht schon für interessante Titel in der letzten Zeit im Kino: „24 Stunden Angst“, „25th Hour“, „23“ und nun eben „28 Days“.
Zum Glück haben diese Filme alle nur eine starke Affinität zu einer Zahl zwischen 21 und 29, ansonsten sind sie vom Genre und auch der Qualität her deutlich unterscheidbar, wie auch dieser Bericht irgendwie beweisen wird!

28 Days Later - Reinfall auf ganzer Linie

...Man was habe ich diesem Film entgegengefiebert!
Werbung und Trailer ließen mein Herz hoffen endlich mal wieder einen richtig guten Schocker Streifen zu sehen.
Doch da lag ich gründlich falsch! Den größten Teil des Films habe ich darauf gewartet das der Film nun endlich spannend, interessant, schockig, gut oder sonst irgendwas wird ... aber nein .. mein warten war vergebens :(
Nun mal der Reihe nach ... Der Film beginnt von der Idee her gut ...
Nach einem Versuch militanter Tierschützer mehrere Affen zu befreien, wird ein tödlicher Virus der sich rasand ausbreitet freigesetzt. Nach einem Zeitsprung (28 Days Later) sehen wir Hauptcharakter Jim(Cillian Murphy) allein und verlassen in einer einsamen Stadt. Weit und breit keine menschenseele in Sicht. Nun könnte der Mix aus Psycho und Horror beginnen ... tut er aber nicht ... Verwirrt...

Pro: kein typischer "Zombie"Film, legt Wert auf dramaturgische Effekte, Figur der Hannah rundet Film ab
Kontra: kommt an den zweiten Teil nicht heran; stellenweise zu vorhersehbar und "kalt" inszeniert
...Ohne
28 days later zu kennen, sah ich mir seinerzeit im TV den zweiten Teil ?28 weeks later? an und hegte somit an das Erstlingswerk entsprechend hohe Erwartungen. Während ich bei ?28 weeks later? vorsichtshalber meine Tasse aus der Hand nahm, um sich nicht in einem Schreckensmoment gen Decke zu katapultieren, tat dieser Usus am gestrigen DVD-Abend nicht Not.
Lediglich die Aussage
?Dann war es nicht mehr im Fernsehen ~ dann war es vor deinem Fenster?
wirkt nach, während sich sonstig mehr oder minder alles recht früh auffällig vorhersehbar gestaltet. Natürlich ist es kaum schlimm, sondern fast schon eher Gesetz, dass anfänglich toughe eiskalt wirkende Personen urplötzlich ihre (Zwischen-)menschlichkeit wiederentdecken ~ aber irgendwie... ich weiß nicht.
Die Handlung lässt sich rasch auf den Punkt bringen und tut es...

Es geht weiter! 28 weeks later nach 28 days later
Pro: Ein sehr guter Anfang, spannende Story
Kontra: in manchen Szenen etwas zu langatmig!!!
...Der Film 28 Weeks later spielt 28 Wochen nach den Ereignissen von 28 Days later.
In 28 days later wurde ganz England von einem Virus befallen, der die Bevölkerung in "aggressive Zombies" mutieren lies, deren einziges Anliegen es war, Menschen zu töten und zu verspeisen. Wer mehr zu 28 days later wissen will, sollte hier mal suchen, da gibt es einige gute Berichte!
So nun zum Inhalt von 28 Weeks later. Ich hatte das Vergnügen den Film im Cinestar mit seiner tollen Soundanlage zu sehen!
Dieser Sound garantierte extreme Schockeffekte in den ersten Minuten des Films. Ich möchte nicht sagen, dass es einer der besten Filmanfänge dieses Genres ist, aber er ist nicht wirklich schlecht gemacht.
Der Anfang ist eine Rückblende auf die ersten Tage, nach Ausbruch des Virus. Eine Gruppe Überlebender hat sich auf einem Bauernhof in dem verseuchten...
