Excerpt: RAF West Raynham was a Royal Air Force station located 2 miles (3.2 km) west of the village of West Raynham in Norfolk, England. It opened in the 1930s and closed in 1994. During the Second World War, RAF Bomber Command operations from RAF West Raynham claimed 86 aircraft. The site was sold by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in 2006. Tamarix Investments, which now owns the site, plans to renovate the 170 houses at RAF West Raynham and build more homes and a hotel. Bristol Blenheims were used by squadrons 101 and 114, both based at RAF West Raynham during the Second World War. Two squadrons of de Havilland Mosquito night fighters were based at RAF West Raynham from 1943. B-25J in 98 RAF Squadron markings.Built between 1938 and 1939, RAF West Raynham was an expansion scheme airfield. The grass landing area was aligned roughly north-east to south-west. The main camp, with housing and headquarters was located immediately west of the landing area. To the south-east were bomb stores. Founded by English settlers from a part of London named Snow Hill," the town became a trading post on the Pocomoke and was designated a royal port by William and Mary of England. Trade was the engine that drove commerce in the town, and the Pocomoke River was the highway. Imported goods were brought into Snow Hill to be taxed, and lumber, tobacco, and crafts by local artisans were exported across the Atlantic. Snow Hill's economic success spread rapidly in the 19th century as steamboats carried passengers to Norfolk and Baltimore and the railroad brought opportunities to expand local markets. Über den Dächern von Norfolk

...Vor unserer Neuenglandkreuzfahrt brauchten wir noch ein Hotel in Norfolk. Dabei habe ich darauf geachtet, dass das Hotel schön ist und nahe zum Hafen lag. Da stach mir das Marriott Waterside ins Auge. Das habe ich dann direkt auf der Homepage gebucht, damit ich nochmals 500 Meilen für miles and more einstreifen kann.
Ich habe auf der Karte gesehen, dass man in 5 Minuten zu Fuß am Hafen ist...

...auf der Wiese. Nee, nee in Norfolk war alles zentral. Die Öffnungszeiten bereiten ebenso Freude. 7 Tage in der Woche kann man bis 21 Uhr shoppen.
Wir waren an einem Sonntag um 19 Uhr dort. Wunderbar, diese Mall. Wenn ich außen so schaute, war sie OK, aber nicht so besonders. Sobald ich ins Atrium kam, änderte sich das. Ich dachte, ich wäre in Dubai.
Alles war in Weiß. Der Boden hatte cremefarbige Fliesen...

Holly Horror House trifft es besser!

Kontra: Schmutzig, Duschen unmöglich, Bettwäsche vom Vorgast!!
...Ursprünglich hatten wir das Airways Hotel (über einen bekannten Online-Anbieter) gebucht. Da das Airways Hotel aber angeblich renoviert wurde (was sich später als reine Lüge entpuppt hatte), wurden wir vor Ort für die 1. Nacht (gebucht waren 2 Nächte) im Holly House Hotel unterbebracht.
Uns traf der Schlag, als wir das Zimmer betraten:
1. Die Decken waren eingerissen
2. Die Tapete hatte...
