In this book Mr. Sacheverell Sitwell, looking at the Netherlands through his own eyes rather than through those of his many predecessors, has produced a pic-ture of the country which may appear un-orthodox only because of its unfamiliarity. In his belief Holland, as a country, is as individual as Russia or as Spain, and there is a great deal more to be seen and enjoyed in it than the picture galleries, windmills, canals, flower markets and bare empty churches which seem to have impressed previous writers.It has been Mr. Sitwell's endeavour to get out of the museums and into the open-air-out of the museums and, likewise, away from the great cities (although not without having entered some of the old and forgotten patrician houses of The Hague and Amsterdam). In this way the author has discovered a new and beautiful Holland in which the architecture of the eighteenth century, the strange villages and costumes of Friesland, or the art of a Daniel Marot and a Cornelis Troost are taken as truly representative of this at once phlegmatic and poetical people and the man-made wonders of their largely artificial country. The result is a book both to awaken curiosity and, so far as a book may do so, to satisfy it-more especially as the very numerous photographs go side by side with the text and illustrate it at almost every point.If the traditionally pic-turesque and quaint appear as seldom among these illustrations as they do in the text the intelligent reader is presented all the more with a picture of a country whose proximity and unfamiliarity will form added inducements to a visit. ... weniger

The Netherlands has multiple musical traditions. Contemporary Dutch popular music (Nederpop) is heavily influenced by music styles that emerged in the 1950s, in the United Kingdom and United States. The style is sung in both Dutch and English. Some of the latters exponents, such as Golden Earring and Shocking Blue have attained world wide fame.More traditional Dutch music however is a genre known as "Levenslied", meaning Song of/about life. These songs have catchy, simple rhythms and melodies, and are always built up on couplets and refrains. Themes are often somewhat sentimental and include love, death and loneliness. Essential are traditional Dutch musical instruments such as the accordion and the barrel organ. Though in the recent years, many levenslied-artists also use synthesizers and guitars for their music. ...Hallo, liebe Leser!
Ich habe gestern bei Ciao nachgefragt, ob man nicht diese leckere Spezialität aufnehmen kann.
Umsomehr freue ich mich, der Community hier eine echt leckere Wurst vorzustellen, die es in Holland schon seit meiner Kindheit gibt!
Ich freute mich immer wie ein Schneekönig, wenn wir nach Holland fuhren und dort von meiner Tante die FRIKANDEL lecker fritiert bekamen...

Windsurfen Holland
Pro: Gute Bedingungen,Stehrevier,Guter Wind
Kontra: nicht viel los
...Ich empfehle allen Anfängern dieses Sportes, unbedingt am Veluwemeer in Holland anzufangen.
Das Veluwemeer ist ein Ausläufer des Ijsselmeeres und ist fast komplett Stehrevier.
Deswegen ist es für Anfänger sehr gut geeignet, da man nicht immer wieder auf das Brett krabbeln muss und dabei sehr viel Kraft verliert.
Es gibt dort mehrere Campingplaetze.Jede Preisklasse ist vertreten.
